While working with my son the other day he drew his first FEW LETTERS with very little help!! It is such a proud moment which makes me realize that he is now in a place cognitively to start learning in a more intense way.
We have been looking into raised lined paper for help with children of sensory needs. I found some at a local teachers store for less that what could be purchased online. For some reason the paper is manufactured in a way that when the child/person presses on it they receive input as to where the boundary lines are on the paper. Check out a teacher or homeschool supply store.
While I was there I looked into some other products they carried for sensory issues, such as tracing tools. I found the School-Rite tracing template, which is perfect for our needs. http://www.school-rite.com/products/ Unlike paper tracing templates or individual letter templates this templates is more durable and easier to use than other products!
